Who wants to see Florence Pugh in scrubs?

Updated: Nov 4, 2021

No, this is not a deliberate pun on Florence Pugh and Zach Braff's relationship. Instead, I always envisioned my characters as actors when writing. I would have loved to cast these actors in a movie/TV adaptation for my newest book, A Savior in Time.

Potential Cast:

Florence Pugh as Dr. Mary Davies

Henry Cavill as Dr. Thomas Sydenham

Jonathan Rhys Meyers as John Locke

Jamie Dornan as Sir Robert Boyle

I fell in love with Miss Florence Pugh when I first saw her in Lady Macbeth. She played Katherine, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage in 1800s. She managed her character with such finesse, balancing both the light and dark side in a person. I also liked her wry humour when she played other characters in other movies like Marvel's Black Widow Yelena Belova.

I thought it would be cute to pair her with Henry Cavill. Who doesn't know of the dude playing Superman and Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher? I thought it would be great for both of them to play doctors. Imagine Henry in surgical scrubs! Yum! Another McDreamy.

As for Jonathan Rhys, anyone who has watched the Tudors would have known the actor who played the larger-than-life King Henry VIII. I thought his magnetic look and his way with the camera would have made him the perfect actor to play John Locke the philosopher and doctor.

Finally, I thought that Jamie Dornan would have made the perfect Sir Robert Boyle. Although he was famous for playing Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, I felt that he played reserved characters better. For example, when he acted for his less well-known roles in Wild Mountain Thyme or Endings, Beginnings.

My intention in writing my latest novel is not even remotely close to attempting something in the scale of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. However, I am hoping that it would stay true to the genre of historical, time-travel romance. My favorite subject is medicine, seconded only by biochemistry, ergo the main characters in my novels are doctors and scientists. I scoured history articles for periods for which there was a burgeoning growth of the biological sciences and stumbled upon these three famous historical figures.

I hope you will enjoy the book as much as I have writing it.

Love,

Your Author
